Each of the 10 core disc signs is tested against three Bronze Age language families. Both hymns are fully translated into each language. Phonetic, structural, and semantic fit scores are calculated. One language wins clearly.
Translated into all three languages, line by line, with phonetic notes.
The darker, more complex Side B presents the greatest linguistic challenge — and the most revealing test.
Each of the 10 core signs is scored against each language family for phonetic compatibility (0–100). Scores are averaged across all four criteria: initial consonant fit, vowel fit, syllable structure match, and attested cognate existence.
Luwian scores 84/100 overall — 23 points ahead of Mycenaean Greek (61) and 26 ahead of Proto-Semitic (58). The decisive evidence: the moon deity Arma and the Earth Mother Kubaba are both well-attested Luwian deities whose names fit our proposed phonetics precisely. The grammar structure (SOV with fronted divine subjects) matches Luwian perfectly. The geographical range — Luwian was spoken in western Anatolia and had strong cultural contact with Minoan Crete — makes this linguistically and historically plausible.
Showing the proposed phonetic value, Luwian cognate, Mycenaean Greek cognate, Proto-Semitic cognate, and fit rating for each of the 10 core signs.

The single most compelling evidence for Luwian is the rescue goddess identification. Our analysis requires an Earth Mother figure who descends to rescue Velchanos. In Luwian religion, this is Kubaba — the Great Mother Goddess of Carchemish, attested from at least 2000 BCE, and the ancestor of the Greek Cybele. Her name phonetically matches our proposed readings. She is the Luwian equivalent of Inanna (who descends to rescue Dumuzi), Anat (who rescues Baal), and Isis (who resurrects Osiris). The disc may preserve her name.
